Minimising Water Loss

System Minimises Water Loss

An Adelaide water technology company has developed a management system that will minimise revenue lost from leaking water pipes.

Optimatics' new analysis tool identifies where water supply infrastructure, such as valves, are required, to reduce pressure on mains and minimise leakage.

Business development manager Peter Radcliffe said the computer program gives water companies the ability to test possible solutions before going to the expense of digging up pipes. "A computer will run through literally billions of scenarios and then come up with a solution," he said.

The program provides water companies with cost-benefit analysis of the infra-structure work required to reduce water wastage.

The system selects locations and settings, including changes required throughout the day, to ensure the system runs at optimum efficiency.
